It is a prayer of voluntary submission to God's will prayed by all the faithful. People pray it without fully realizing what they are saying-what they are asking God for. I did, for years.

God is calling all people, whatever their the in life, to submit joyfully to his will precisely because he is a loving Dad who wants to give us all that is good. For me it is a test of my faith in both his divine providence and his infinite love for us to trust that he will, indeed, lead us to the places that best fulfill his will for our life.

Christine and I have recently submitted a proposal that would result in a major new development of our business. Thinking we would quickly have a response to this proposal, we immediately began planning our next steps. However, a few weeks have since passed with no response at all...just silence. We are now thinking that this proposal might not be in God's will for us, regardless of how much sense it made to us.

It seems to me that one of the most difficult tasks in life is that of discerning of God's will. This is key for us in formation for the diaconate and also for everyone, regardless of their state in life. You are right on the money when you say that we must trust God to direct our next steps. He works through the Bishop, through our families, friends and countless others whose paths cross ours.

I'm finding that the key is to pray daily for his will to be done - The Lord's Prayer - and for the grace to recognize and accept his will. While often difficult, we believe that if God's will is done in our lives we will realize the fullness of love and joy he desires for each of us. Only through obedience and trust can we receive these graces.

Fear not, God is in control!Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00993772919911115296noreply@blogger.com
